Prof Steyn Heckroodt
Chief Thought Leader at Platform for Connected Leadership, Harvard Business School Publishing Moderator, Dean Lincoln University UAE, Strategy and Leaderhip Expert
As we move into the uncertainty of the future, as CEO to the Platform for Connected Leadership, I find myself at need of both practice and research (academia) in order to strengthen my sense-making ability of the future. Never before have the human characteristics of humbleness, curiosity, inspiration, empathy, caring, and sharing been so elevated as a human need to progress into the future. As we struggle with the synergising of physical, biological, and technological systems, we find ourselves struggling to triangulate between business, nature, and the human species.
I have long since learned that we cannot change the world, but each one of us can change his or her own. Through my own experience and story of transformation, I have come to believe that every one of us is capable of remarkable feats. Every one of us has got greatness in them that goes beyond vocabulary. It is an emotion sourced from the soul that is motivational and gives us hope. Greatness has no limitations. It is humble, fearless and a place in you where ideas come seemingly from nowhere. It is where you exceed your target without knowing you had the ability. Greatness respects nature, feeds on self-trust, is kind, but tough. In my own life I have had many challenges and set backs but have come to learn that these wrong turns can be the steppingstones to greatness, to self-discovery and learning.
